What is a neighbourhood house?

 

Neighbourhood Houses are known by many different names. These names include:

Community Houses
Living and Learning Centres
Neighbourhood Centres
Learning Centres

Whatever the name these places are local organisations that provide social, educational and recreational activities for their communities in a welcoming supportive environment.

 

 
How does a neighbourhood house work?

Neighbourhood houses are managed by volunteer committees and paid staff. They offer many opportunities for volunteer participation in all aspects of the house activities and management.
Good quality affordable childcare and playgroups are offered at most houses.

 

 

What activities are available at Dunolly Neighbourhood Centre?

Activities are generally run at low or no cost to participants. Activities including:

Gardening
Walking group
Painting classes
Old-time dance classes
Scrapbooking
Craft group
