Would R.Y.P.E.N Interest You?

If you are aged between 15 - 17 and are keen to develop yourself R.Y.P.E.N could be an important step for you.

Your local Rotary Club has members who are grapy to explain the function and nature of a R.Y.P.E.N Seminar commences Friday afternoon and concludes after lunch on Sunday. During the seminar you would be accommodating in dormitory style rooms and meals are provided in a communal dining room.

 
The activities of the Seminar will comprise discussion guest speakers and syndicate Group tasks. Group tasks. The topics will be many and varied. They many include, for example Communication and Interpersonal Relationship, Goal Setting, personal Awareness, job Hunting and many more. Since R.Y.P.E.N is also a social experience, the seminar usually includes a ‘Formal Dinner’, a sports Afternoon and a or Disco. You can expect to be asked to assist in the conduct of the Seminar by giving talks, thanking Guest Speakers, Group rep0ort or by assisting with camp tasks such as helping at mealtime. Most of the time you will be participating in learning sessions and undertaking tasks in small groups which will involve discussing issues and resolving problems relevant problems relevant to young people today.

By the end of the weekend. You will hopefully be better prepared to from your own opinion and views on a variety of issues. You will help you cope with a range of situations you will undoable face as you progress through school and join the workforce. For example: how will you find a job and how will you convince the employer to take you on? How will you relate to your fellow worker or make new friends when you move away from home? It might not be all that easy, but R.Y.P.E.N Will help.

If your are selected to attend a R.Y.PE.N Seminar, your must be willing to abide by the Rotary Basic Code of Behavior .A.R.Y.P.E.N Seminar, amongst other things, is an exercise in integrated social activity. Therefore, it must require the establishment of certain basic codes of behavior. This will involve a sacrifice in some individual liberties but only in this way can the full, rewarding potentialities of social living be developed .

At the Seminar Awardees would need to bring:

A. Clothing mostly casual but include an outfit semi-formal occasions swimsuit and towel.
B. Toilet articles, towel soap etc.
C. Sleeping bag or sheets and pillow slip.
D. Musical instrument, if you play one.
E. Clip board, note pad, pencils erasers etc

The following are the essential points of the basic Code of behavior expected by rotary:

1.Except during organized Discussion groups, female quarters are out of bounds to all males and vice-versa.
2.Alcohol, cigarettes and drugs are not permitted during the covered by the seminar.
3. No R.Y.P.E.N Awardees may leave the camp without the consent and knowledge of their counselor.
4. “Outside “ personal friends of Awardees, not enrolled in the R.Y.P.E.N course, may only be invited into camp area with the permission of the seminar director.
5. Light be left off in the dormitories after the specified Light out’ Be considerate!
6. Everyone must attend breakfast and be on time. This the first organizational of the day.
7. Attendance at all sessions is compulsory.
